Jidian Construction Materials Co., Ltd. engineered the steel transfer truss system for a mixed-use development complex in Frankfurt, Germany. The 12,400-ton steel package features long-span transfer trusses that carry 16 floors of retail, office, and residential loads above a column-free 38-meter atrium. The transfer trusses utilize welded box-section chords up to 1,100mm deep, designed for both gravity and seismic load paths per Eurocode EN 1993.
Our team optimized the truss geometry through iterative structural analysis, reducing steel tonnage by 14% while maintaining all performance criteria. The complex transfer connections were validated through full-scale mock-up testing at the Technical University of Darmstadt. On-site assembly utilized temporary shoring towers and incremental jacking to achieve precise load transfer during construction sequencing, with the structure achieving final certification in November 2023.
