Seismic-Resistant Steel Framework for Stockholm Regional Hospital

Jidian Construction Materials Co., Ltd. provided the steel structure system for a regional hospital expansion in Stockholm, Sweden. The medical facility required stringent vibration control meeting VC-D criteria for operating rooms and seismic resilience, achieved through our engineered steel framing with 7,800 tons of structural steel. The design incorporates viscous dampers at selected brace locations and base isolation bearings at the foundation interface.

Our team coordinated closely with healthcare planners and MEP engineers to integrate medical gas, electrical, and HVAC systems within the structural frame. The project maintained uninterrupted operation of the existing hospital throughout construction, achieved through phased construction sequencing and vibration monitoring at the property line. The facility achieved LEED Gold certification upon completion, with the steel structure contributing to a 38% reduction in embodied carbon compared to conventional concrete construction.

Key Data: 7,800 tons structural steel | VC-D vibration criteria | Viscous dampers | Base isolation bearings | LEED Gold certified | 38% embodied carbon reduction
