High-Strength Steel Column R&D Laboratory Tower in Singapore
High-Strength Steel Column R&D Laboratory Tower in Singapore

Jidian Construction Materials Co., Ltd. designed and fabricated the steel structure for a 14-story research and development tower at a technology park in Singapore. The project required high-strength S420 steel columns and composite steel-concrete floor systems to support heavy laboratory equipment loads up to 7.5 kN per square meter. The structural frame incorporates tuned mass dampers at the roof level for wind-induced vibration control in the tropical storm environment.
Our engineering team designed the steel framing for maximum spatial flexibility, with 12-meter column-free spans on each floor to accommodate future laboratory reconfigurations. The building achieved a structural efficiency rating of 82 kg of steel per square meter of floor area, well below industry averages for similar R&D facilities. Fireproofing was applied using intumescent coating rated for 2-hour fire resistance, and the facility achieved Green Mark Platinum certification from Singapore's Building and Construction Authority.
Key Data: 14 stories | S420 high-strength columns | 7.5 kN/m2 floor load capacity | 12m column-free spans | 82 kg/m2 steel efficiency | Green Mark Platinum certified
