Steel Structure Power Plant Building

Product Detail

Steel Structure Power Plant Building: Engineered for Thermal Power Generation

Thermal power plant main buildings face a combination of structural demands that no standard industrial warehouse can handle: boiler suspended loads of 200–800 tons transferred through the main frame, turbine-generator pedestals requiring vibration isolation from the surrounding structure, flue gas ductwork operating at 150–400°C, and seismic loads amplified by tall, top-heavy equipment configurations. EPC contractors who adapt generic steel buildings to power plants end up with frame resonance issues, thermal expansion cracking, and turbine alignment drift that shortens bearing life.

Our steel structure power plant building is designed from the ground up for thermal power generation. The main frame uses Q355B/Q390B welded H-section and box-section columns engineered for suspended boiler loads and turbine pedestal integration. Boiler frame columns are designed with independent foundations isolated from the turbine house to prevent vibration transmission. Flue gas and steam piping routes are pre-engineered into the frame with dedicated support brackets at designed temperatures.

A 300 MW thermal power plant main building - typically 50m span, 60m height, 120m length - requires 3,000–5,000 tons of structural steel. Our 360,000 tons/year capacity means we can dedicate production lines to a project of this scale and deliver in 60–90 days, keeping pace with EPC critical path schedules.

Product Advantages

  • Boiler load integration – Main frame columns and girders are structurally designed for the full suspended boiler weight (200–800 tons), not merely supporting the building enclosure. Load paths from boiler suspension points to foundations are engineered as part of the primary frame, eliminating field-fabricated brackets.

  • Turbine vibration isolation – Turbine-generator pedestal foundations are structurally separated from the main building frame. Expansion joints at the boiler-turbine interface prevent vibration transmission that would cause turbine alignment drift and premature bearing wear.

  • High-temperature durability – Boiler enclosure zones use silicone-modified high-temperature topcoat rated for 300°C continuous exposure, with aluminum silicate fiber insulation behind cladding. Standard industrial coatings fail within 2–3 years in these conditions.

  • Heavy crane runway – Turbine house crane runway beams are pre-engineered for 50–200 ton maintenance cranes. Bracket connections, stiffeners, and fatigue details designed per the crane's load spectrum, not generic building codes.des.

  • Seismic amplification design – Tall, top-heavy power plant buildings amplify seismic forces at upper levels. Our frame design accounts for equipment mass distribution and mass irregularity per GB 50260, not just uniform building loads.

  • Piping and ductwork integration – Support brackets for flue gas ducts, steam piping, and cable trays are pre-engineered at designed locations and temperatures. No field drilling into structural members or ad-hoc hanger installations.

  • EPC schedule alignment – A 300 MW main building requires 3,000–5,000 tons of steel. Our 360,000 tons/year capacity allows dedicated production lines to meet 60–90 day delivery windows aligned with the EPC critical path.

Manufacturing, Welding, Quality Control, Packaging, and Export Process

Steel processing and welding

CNC plasma cutting prepares all H-section plates and box-section components to dimension. Automated submerged-arc welding (SAW) joins main columns, girders, and crane runway beams with full-penetration welds. Box-section columns - used for high-load boiler house supports - are welded on dedicated jigs to maintain ±1mm parallel-face tolerance. The AMADA secondary processing line ensures ±2mm bolt-hole positioning.

Welding qualification and NDT

Welding procedures qualified to ISO 15614-1 and AWS D1.1; all welders hold ISO 9606 certifications. Every primary load-bearing weld undergoes 100% ultrasonic testing (UT) per GB/T 11345. Radiographic testing (RT) on critical butt welds in boiler house main columns. Magnetic particle inspection (MT) covers secondary connections and crane bracket details. Weld records archived per power industry QA requirements.

Surface treatment

Surface preparation reaches Sa 2.5 (ISO 8501-1) before coating. Standard system for turbine house: epoxy zinc-rich primer (2×75μm) + polyurethane topcoat. Boiler enclosure zones: silicone-modified high-temperature topcoat rated for 300°C continuous exposure. Coating thickness verified per batch with calibrated gauges.

Pre-shipment inspection

Mill certificates matched to steel batches with traceability to heat numbers. UT/MT/RT records verified and archived. Critical dimensions - including box-section column squareness, crane runway beam straightness, and bolt-hole patterns - checked against shop drawings. Out-of-tolerance components reworked before loading.
